Sources of cosmetic danger surgery Information and Resources

Cosmetics are part of most women (and some mens!) daily routine. The key to looking good - is feeling good. Covering yourself in every beauty product around will only hide your natural beauty. It is much more beneficial to just highlight specific areas.
Make-up ideas such as applying foundation before lipstick to last longer, is one of many tips we have found and we are sure that there are many more here that will help you to feel good and look good..

Title : Laura Mercier Foundation Primer - Oil Free
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Very Good Primer !

This is the first time that I have used a primer and today is the first day that I am trying this. So far it has kept my oily skin in check for 9 hours since I first put it on at 7 am. My skin is dewy but not oily and my makeup went on incredibly easy. I wear mineral makeup and had no application problems. This is definitely worth the price and the bottle is a really good size, so I know that it will last me awhile. By the way, A little bit goes a long way.

Title : Laura Mercier Foundation Primer
Rating : 3 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Ok Foundation Primer

I really wanted to like this product. It did smooth out my skin and the foundation glided right over, the only thing I did not like is it made my skin break out. I have combination skin so maybe that is the problem. I noticed they have a non-oil primer too and I might try that.

Title : Retread Hair Conditioner by LUSH
Rating : 4 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Look at all this SHINE!!!

I just bought Retread Hair Conditioner today from my local LUSH store and tried it tonight. My hair was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G after I used it. After I've read all the reviews about the product, I was still a little skepticle, as I've tried many things that had awesome reviews, but just didn't work with my thick coarse hair.

I shampooed my hair, put in Retread Hair Conditioner, covered my hair with a plastic cap and set a hot towel over it for an hour (dunking the towel in hot water every 15 minutes to 'reheat' it). Rinsed out the conditioner and didn't use anything else on my hair (I usually have to put in anti-frizz serum).

The first thing I noticed was the shine... what a HUGE difference. Even my boyfriend said there was something different, but he couldn't quite figure it out. Retread Hair Conditioner left my hair super soft too. And you don't even need to use that much.

Now for the bad....

the smell (that's why it's not 5 stars)! I know some people say they love it and some people say they hate it, and I really think that's the way it is... you either hate it or love it. I actully hated it. My boyfriend took one whiff (and thought it smelled like old soggy towels) and offered to drive me back to LUSH to return it because he thought it was 'old'. Another reviewer said it smelled like 'barnyard' and I think that's the best way to describe it. You do get used to it (and luckly the smell fades as your hair dries), but for me, the smell was too much.

I will buy again because I absolutely love the results, but I will only use Retread Hair Conditioner when I know I will be home the next day to spare others from the smell.

Title : Big Natural Shampoo by LUSH
Rating : 1 Stars out of 5.
Summary : made my hair like straw

I fell for the hype, bought this overpriced shampoo
It left my wet hair feeling completely dehydrated, and even their also highly priced "Jungle" conditioner was used in enormous amounts, it just left my hair dull and dried out.
I returned both the shampoo as well as the conditioner, and the deodorant which I had purchased that gave me rash right away, 2 weeks ago, and I still have to hear from them.

Title : Retread Hair Conditioner by LUSH
Rating : 1 Stars out of 5.
Summary : If there were negative numbers, that's how I would rate it!

I read all the reviews on Lush Retread conditioner before I bought it because it is quite expensive, so I thought I was being a wise shopper. Wrong!! This stuff sucks!! There's a reason its called retreads because it smells like old truck tires. Eewww! And closing the little tub isn't easy when you have a glop of conditioner on your fingertips. Then it doesn't do any of the things it promises for your hair. It doesn't leave it soft or shiny and it doesn't help with detangling your hair, which you hope to get with a conditioner. I tried using it every day for a week, hoping to get the results the manufacturer talks about. My hair was like straw and stunk to high heaven!!! Then I tried alternating it with my regular conditioner. The days I used this crap was obvious. And I was using Lush shampoo, so they should have complimented each other. My recommendation: don't buy it! Don't even accept a free sample of it.

Title : Blackberry Bath Bomb by LUSH
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Fav!

This is my absolute favorite product by LUSH. I received a huge box of bath ballistics for my birthday, and out of the whole thing this was the best! it made the water a nice purple color (without a ring around the tub) and made my skin smell great - even the next day! I would recommend this one to any first-timers, so you can see what the buzz around LUSH is all about! I am stocking up on this one!

Title : Karma Komba Solid Shampoo Bar by LUSH
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Don't be scared by the bar

This shampoo is amazing. A rub of the bar over your hands or at the roots of your hair and you have a head of lather. Far, far better than I expected. And someone always comments on the smell of my hair. Leaves your tresses soft even without a conditioner. Give it a try; you'll love it.

Title : Laura Mercier Secret Brightener
Rating : 4 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Easy To Use Highlighting Pen Has Multiple Uses

This great little product can be used anywhere on the face to highlight, illuminate, and brighten any feature plus can help to reduce dark circles under the eyes! This is a light-reflective product that helps dark places and discolorations look brighter and throws subtle light into your features kind of like a makeup spotlight.

To use: Twist up on the bottom to release some product into to brush tip at top. You will need to twist it many times (15+) to get it started but it will require only one `click' or so each time you use it. Simply bush it onto the area you wish to highlight with very light strokes and gently pat into place.

To open the eye area and illuminate the cheek bone, apply the secret brightener to the lower temple patting inward across the cheekbone towards the apple of the cheek. It's up to you how close you'd like to get it to your eye. It has been both Dermatologist tested for any skin type and Ophthalmologist tested safe for use around the eyes.

When used in conjunction with concealer it's great for helping to lighten dark circles! If you prefer not to wear concealer, applying secret brightener over your eye cream will give you a touch of radiance that will help to even out the skin somewhat and open up the area under the eyes. If you are heavily lined in the eye area you would want to apply Secret Brightener UNDER your concealer so as not to enhance any lines.

Title : Godiva Shampoo Bar by LUSH
Rating : 3 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Has its Ups and Downs

There are several things I love about this product and several things I dislike. I'll preface this by saying that Lush's marketing is ingenious. It seems everyone who makes it to their store or web site really wants to love their products. I also have really tried my hardest to become a Lush devotee but it just isn't working out for me.

Here's what I liked about Godiva:
1) The smell. It's absolutely divine. You must be a big fan of jasmine, though, and I can see how it would be too much for some people. I personally loved it.

2) It left my hair in great condition. I don't think my hair has ever been this healthy. However, this isn't the only thing I've been doing differently in my hair routine so whether or not Godiva is responsible for my new-found beautiful locks remains to be told.

Now the things I didn't like:
1) The size. The bar is tiny. Which leads to me next point...

2) The price. For such a small product the price is unbelievable. I know some other reviewers have said that Lush's shampoo bars last for months, but I disagree with them. Perhaps if you wash your hair 3 or 4 times per month that would be the case but for the average woman these will not last more than 6 or 7 weeks. Which leads me to the next point...

3) The bars would last much longer if they lathered better. I read on some reviews that they only needed 3 swipes to get enough lather for their whole head. I had to work the bar in my hands and then rub it over my head a good 10-15 times to get a decent (not great) lather. This is part of the reason the bars don't last very long. I do have quite long, thick, curly hair, but I don't lather my whole head, just the scalp. So I was quite disappointed with the lathering action of this product.

Overall, I'm slowly starting to lose steam for Lush's products but I am still a slave to their marketing ploys. I'm sure I'll end up buying this product again just because it smells so good, but I'll have a good bit of buyer's remorse afterward because of the expense.

Title : Vanilla Bath Gift Set by LUSH
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : For a gift, a great deal, for yourself, maybe not so much

The first thing that needs to be considered here is that by buying the Butterball ballistic and Floating Island melt separately, you'll save almost $2, BUT less than $2 for wrapping and a nice label (and cute wrapping at that), really isn't unreasonable, especially when compared to the differences in price in other Lush gifts.

Now, if you're getting this for yourself, you might as well go for the goodies on their own and save the money, but if you're getting this as a present, this is a decent deal. :)

That being said, I'm tempted to buy one for myself because the wrapping paper is so cute and I love both Butterball and Floating Island (what's not to love?) so nothing in here would go to waste...yes, it's true, I'm not listening to my own advice here.

Title : Wiccy Massage Bar by LUSH
Rating : 2 Stars out of 5.
Summary : LUSH is okay but I have found I like MELT better...

I have tried the LUSH products and found them kinda good but then my friend introduced me to the MELT product line. Any benefits I thought I was getting from LUSH... out the window. Their products seemed, all the sudden, unimpressive. And I really like that MELT is Denver based! Try them out and see what you think for yourself (If you aren't here in Colorado I know they have online products too) and make your own choice. I recomend them though and I have told everyone I know to switch! :-)

Title : Golden Slumbers Bath Bomb by LUSH
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Intoxicating Lavender Bath

Depending on your mood (and the time of day you take a luscious bath with the Golden Slumbers bath ballistic) you could either end up feeling especially sleepy or especially interested in going out on a date or staying home swapping massages with the lovely LUSH massage bars. The comforting warmth of the bath with generous quantities of lavender oil and lavender flowers is blended with chamomile oil and Neroli oil. The Golden sparkle is pretty, but washes off easily.

Most of what you feel while in the bath is the lavender blossoms tickling your skin as you move about. Can I admit something? I love this bath ballistic more than the Sex Bomb ballistic and that is saying something. The water was silkier, more fragrant and simply intoxicating. The bath ballistic won't give you any bubbles, so a bit of a bubble bar should do the trick. Follow this bath with the lovely Sleepy Head massage bar for an even more dreamy sleep. The Therapy bar is great for couples or any of the bars are fun just to spoil your skin with rich dreamy oils and cocoa butter.

If the little bits of lavender don't sound appealing, then you might prefer the Sex Bomb ballistic with rose petals or one of the buttery bath ballistics without the flowers/herbs. The LUSH bath ballistics are so fun to use and instead of standing over the tub dropping in essential oils, you just toss one of these in the tub and watch is spin around in the water, fizzing your bath into a supremely luxurious experience. Golden Slumbers is especially moisturizing, skin soothing and relaxing. Invite your partner to scrub your back with some lovely sea salts and then promise them a massage later. This bath ballistic could be the start of a very lovely relaxing evening. Spoil yourself, you deserve it.
